Reliable e&s aqua water treatment systems on luxury cruise liner: Carefree bathing in the wellness spa on the AIDAblu
"Cast off!" was the cry aboard the AIDAblu in Warnemünde on 5 May 2010, when around 10 pm the new luxury cruise liner from the cruise operator AIDA Cruises set off on its tour of the Baltic Sea under a shower of fireworks.
AIDAblu is fitted out even more comfortably than its predecessor: in addition to its own brewery and the very latest spa suites, it also has the largest swimming spa zone on the world's oceans that uses e&s aqua GmbH water treatment systems – fitted with ProMinent components.
The 252-metre long and 32.2-metre wide AIDAblu was launched from the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg on 16 January 2010 and was christened on 9 February 2010 in Hamburg by the designer Jette Joop. The launch of AIDAblu in Warnemünde is the start of the summer season for the youngest member of the fleet of AIDA cruise ships and from here, between 5 May and 27 August 2010, the newly christened vessel will be heading out on a total of 13 cruises. Its programme consists of eleven 10-day trips to the jewels of the Baltic Sea, including Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Gdansk and Copenhagen, as well as two shorter tours with stops in Copenhagen and Oslo. From September 2010 to April 2011 AIDAblu's base port will be the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the departure point for a further 30 cruises around the Canary Islands.
Perfectly hygienic pool water
To ensure that guests on the AIDAblu can bathe in perfectly hygienic pool water, the ship operates highly technological water treatment systems supplied by e&s aqua GmbH. The Oyten-based company has a history of water treatment that goes back over 30 years and specialises in compact systems for pool water, supplying turnkey systems that meet all of the regulations specified by international classification associations and also handles their installation, completion on site and commissioning. There are eight systems installed on AIDAblu for a total of three pools, six whirlpools and a children's pool and the Dulcometer D1Ca control units with in-line probe housing DGMa, BT4 solenoid metering pumps for the regulation of pH and liquid chlorine and pH, redox and chlorine sensors (PHES, RHES, CGE) and all accessories used on them are supplied by ProMinent.
The reliable e&s aqua water treatment systems used on the AIDAblu are also used on her sister ships. According to Managing Director Onno Janssen: "Whenever possible we always try to rely on ProMinent for measuring and control systems for our plants as they are simply easier to handle and we have had excellent experience with the service behind the name ProMinent."
